JOB SUMMARY
The Performance Tester serves as a Subject Matter Expert for Apache JMeter and performs analysis of systems and requirements. Analyze application performance with relevant tools. The Tester also directs or assists in the design of test plans in support of user requirements for moderately complex to extremely complex IT systems.
At this time, the position is remote, but there are plans to eventually return to the office in Rosslyn, VA. Candidate must be willing to work on site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determining what performance testing strategy to implement
- Writing technical test plans, test case scenarios, identifying what and how loads and metrics to be collected
- Conducting various types of tests and collecting necessary metrics
- Writing test analysis documents highlighting key findings and recommendations
- Perform code reviews
- Analyze problems and the information to be processed.
- Define problems, and develops system requirements and program specifications, plan and monitor the optimization of system operation and resource utilization and perform performance engineering and systems capacity analysis and planning.
- Evaluate non-functional requirement documents and identifies performance test needs.
- Write test plans, test cases and record/track defects.
- Develop and maintains a Performance Test Plan/Strategy document defining: test objectives, types of tests needed, workload matrix, and test scenarios.
- Develop test scripts and load projections.
- Collect performance metrics and perform load, stress, and duration/endurance tests.
- Analyze performance test results and identifies bottlenecks within the system.
- Work with respective teams to plan/define SLAs and ensure they are met.
- Identify root cause using diagnostics tools.
- Suggest improvements and configuration changes that improve performance of the system.
- Support Agile system development efforts including, technical design, and testing.
- Function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.
- Evaluate performance results and recommend major changes affecting short-term project growth and success.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Ability to identify which protocol is best to use for building scripts and connecting to test environment interfaces
- Possesses and applies Performance testing expertise on multiple complex work assignments which are broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to apply a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments.
- Ability to plan and lead major technology assignments.
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
- Highly self-motivated and accountable for tasks assigned.
- Ability to work on their own without supervision/guidance.
- Strong communication skills.
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate working knowledge with several of the following concepts or technologies:- SDLC/SELC
- Apache JMeter
- Agile Environment/Methodologies
- LoadRunner
- API Testing
- Languages: JAVA, Ruby, Python, XML/JSON, PowerShell, NodeJs
- Monitoring & Analysis skills/tools: AWS CloudWatch/CloudTrail, Splunk, AppDynamics, NetApp
- XRAY Test Management
- Collaboration tools such as JIRA & Confluence
- Biometrics knowledge
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher and 5+ years of Test Automation experience
- Candidate must be able to obtain a DHS Suitability background investigation or be eligible to qualify for DHS Entry of Duty background investigation followed by DHS Public Trust Clearance.
- 3 years’ experience setting up Apache JMeter test harness and scripts.
- Some coding/scripting experience.
- Some tool integration experience.
