The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research (PSHOR) has an opening for a Pharmacist for the Peer Review Program. Peer Review for Psychiatric Medications Program is a State of Maryland Medicaid Program run by the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and based at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center on the campus of Spring Grove Hospital Center in Catonsville, Maryland. The program serves over 4000 Medicaid clients.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy and Interacts with prescribers, child psychiatry consultants, community pharmacies, residential treatment centers, and physician office staff members to obtain patient information and educate them about the Peer Review Program. Interacts with the Medicaid vendor computer systems to authorize prescriptions.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Reviews prior authorization documents and data from prescribers, such as medications/dosages, drug interactions, laboratory results, diagnoses/target symptoms for an approval of an anti-psychotic in children.

Reviews patient medication profiles.

Conducts drug utilization reviews.

Provide monthly reporting to the Office of Medicaid.

Monitor medication and dosages for adolescent patients.

Interacts with prescribers and their representatives over the phone to provide information on prior authorization program.

Complies with relevant Medicaid and Program policies and procedures regarding authorizations and communications.

Perform other duties assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Doctoral degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D) preferred.
EXPERIENCE: N/A.
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: N/A.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Current Maryland licensure in good standing to practice as a pharmacist or a federal district licensure where the work will be performed upon hire.
OTHER: Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the job. Employees in this job class may be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. NOTE: This position is considered essential to the daily operations within the School of Pharmacy (SOP) and Mental Health Program (PPS) to provide clinical services at the professional level focusing on medication use in patients.
