    Position Summary
      The Certified Pharmacy Technician performs a variety if technical and precise duties relating to medication preparation, storage, distribution and disposition. This position is responsible for preparation of hazardous drugs, parenteral injections and parenteral nutrition, using aseptic technique practices involving numerous and precise manipulations in a federally certified clean environment and in compliance with OSHA, NIOSH and USP 797 standards. This position requires an ability to interpret pharmaceutical terminology including a wide variety of chemical compound names and oncology regimens. This position monitors the oncology clinic schedule, determines oncology medications required for prescribed regimens, and orders product to ensure adequate supply without exceeding PAR levels.
    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
    • License/Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician Status (CPht) must achieve within 6 months from date of hire.
    • Experience: Prior hospital pharmacy experience preferred. 1 year experience in compounding IV medications.
    • Registration with the state of Maine or New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy
    • Analytical skills necessary to identify and resolve problems related to medication preparation and distribution
    • Understands and accurately completes pharmaceutical calculations and their application to hospital pharmacy practice.
