Job description
CACI is looking for a Photonics Solution Architect to join our NSIS (National Security & Innovative Solutions) division, supporting our photonics team- we are expanding! Our laser communications technology is helping NASA provide high-definition video from the International Space Station, and to explore asteroids 250 million miles away. Our other optical technology can also help scientists discover biohazards; support intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions; and protect soldiers from explosive devices. Do you have a passion for innovation? Apply now and join the team!
What You’ll Get to Do:
Lead the Solutions Architecture effort for programs that develop new photonic technology and custom hardware for free-space optical communications, laser transmitters for remote sensing, RF photonics, and other applications
- Work closely with existing and potential new customers to understand their Photonics needs and planned programs. Help shape those programs toward CACI existing and future capabilities
- Support the growth of the Photonics team by contributing new ideas for the technical growth of our organization, championing our technology in personal interactions with customers, and proposal creation
- Guide Photonics IR&D investments for maximum impact on growth and profitability
- Work closely with colleagues to derive physical, software and electronics requirements from optical performance requirements. Flow down requirements to any and all subsystems as required.
- Maintain those requirements for the lifecycle of a program and develop verification methods for each one
- Supervise and direct the work of both technicians and less senior optical engineers in the development, modeling, and testing of optical systems
- Interact extensively with Government customers, during formal program reviews and throughout the program lifecycle, to negotiate requirements, present detailed technical status updates, and to identify new business opportunities
- Develop accurate estimates of resources and task intervals for program managers, and track and meet schedule milestones and cost objectives
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Masters in Optics, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience
- Experience with one of more of the following: space photonic systems, fiber optics, fiber lasers, high-power bulk lasers, optical communications, nonlinear optics, ultrafast lasers, spectroscopy, integrated photonics, and RF photonics
- Minimum TS/SCI government security clearance required.
Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- PhD in optics, physics, or a related field
- We’ve been named a Best Place to Work by the Washington Post.
- Our employees value the flexibility at CACI that allows them to balance quality work and their personal lives.
- We offer competitive benefits and learning and development opportunities.
- We are mission-oriented and ever vigilant in aligning our solutions with the nation’s highest priorities.
- For over 55 years, the principles of CACI’s unique, character-based culture have been the driving force behind our success.
