Job description
The Staff PT I has the responsibility to evaluate and treat, establish a plan of care, and assess physical therapy programs for patients referred to In-Patient/Swing Bed/Out-Patient for Physical Therapy services. The therapist is expected to maintain the highest level of quality patient care at all times. The therapist will assist in the orientation, supervision and training of PT’s, PTA’s and support personnel, as well as students. The therapist will be expected to be involved in clinical education of PT/PTA students. The therapist will be expected to complete daily documentation, charges, and schedule patients daily. The therapist will assist in the development and initiation of new programs. The therapist will adhere to policies, procedures and standards of practice as defined and/or stated by the 1) Texas Physical Therapy Association, 2) American Physical Therapy Association, and 3) HIPPA.
May be expected to lift up to 25 pounds or up to 50 pounds with assistance. Work is of medium demand; walking, standing, carrying, talking, hearing and listening most of the time while on duty. Visual and auditory acuity along with manual dexterity are essential to performing designated duties required. Optimal auditory acuity required. Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment, moving and lifting patients is essential to performing assigned duties. Physical conditions are clean, neat and well-groomed. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care. Exposure to limited amounts of radiation, hazardous chemicals/substances or infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of patient care.
Requirements
- Demonstrates Eligibility for Employment in the U.S.
- Must be able to achieve CPR certification.
- Graduate of an accredited DPT Level Program for Physical Therapy.
- One year clinical experience preferred, entry level accepted.
· Must hold or be eligible for Texas State Licensure.
- Must be able to apply the theory of Physical Therapy under the
- bylaws of the Texas State Practice Act and the APTA Code of Ethics.
- Should speak intelligently and in a professional manner before
- others, demonstrate good public relations, demonstrate assertiveness, flexibility and tact.
- Must be able to instill confidence in patients, physicians, and
- personnel
- Perform technical procedures.
- Have ability and competence to operate necessary equipment.
- Determine proper procedures and methods of treatment and evaluate results.
- Make decisions independently.
- Adapt to emergency conditions.
- Be alert to changes in the patient’s condition.
- Demonstrate economic use of time.
- Know techniques of assisting and handling patients.
- Must possess a high degree of accuracy in carrying out
- prescriptions, receiving and translating information, charting and
- reporting.
- Demonstrate supervisory and management skills and have ability to delegate tasks as needed.
- Understand Departmental/Facility policies, procedures and
- regulations. Practice HIPPA guidelines per hospital protocol.
- Be aware of inter/intradepartmental communication.
- Must have coordination of sight and body movements in various applications of procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.45 - $50.00 per hour
