Drax Biomass Inc. is a development and operating company focused on manufacturing wood pellets for renewable low-carbon power generation from sustainable biomass.


The company is seeking a strong, motivated Arkansas based Plant Operator to work at our new facility in Leola, AR.

Job Title: Plant Operator


Location; Leola, AR


Reports to:
Satellite Mill Supervisor


Purpose:

The plant operator is trained to tend, operate, maintain and oversee all of the areas within the mill to assure compliance with established procedures relative to quality, productivity, maintenance and safety by performing assigned duties.


Dimensions:
  • No direct reports
  • Maintain internal relationships with co-workers and supervisors
  • Maintain external relationships with vendors on operation site (i.e. loggers and OEM vendors)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years industrial experience
  • Demonstrated electrical and/or mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to adapt to working within a team or lone working environment, with minimal supervision


Special Features:

Ability to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment; ability to work at elevated heights and occasionally in confined spaces


Measures of Success:

  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of operational best practices that lend to the manufacturing vision, strategy, and policies of the site
  • Constantly reviews the operation of the plant to monitor production and quality, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Follows standard operating instructions/procedures in the performance of all areas including start-up, shutdown, and normal operations
  • Review product quality and makes system adjustments as needed
  • Monitor and adjust drag chain conveyors
  • Performs housekeeping duties as requested, is responsible for keeping designated area clean and clear of safety hazards
  • Perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in clean, good working order including but not limited to: changing bearings, changing pellet mill parts, changing hammer mill parts, carry out maintenance activities on pumps, valves, fans, piping systems, compressors and conveying systems, and other minor plant maintenance as needed
