Playground Counselor

Work Environment: Outdoors, parks around the Township.

Summary:

Provide a fun and memorable experience for out campers in our summer Playground program.

Essential Functions

1. Develop and implement new and recurring structured games and activity.

2. Provide a safe environment for all campers.

3. Keep track of supplies including sporting equipment, crafts, and board game pieces.

4. Promote a positive outdoor experience.

5. Supervise campers’ daily activities.

Physical Requirements

1. Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently.

2. Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.

3. Ability to talk, hear, and see.

4. Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.

5. Occasional lifting of up to 15lbs.

1. Engage with campers and parents.

2. Come up with new and recurring structured games and activity.

3. Effectively communicate rules, guidelines, scoring, and possible scenarios regarding activities.

4. Engage in arts and crafts activities.

5. Communicate to children from grades 1-6. Speak clearly to large and small groups.

6. Outgoing, energetic, and positive attitude.

Skills

1. Knowledge of various recreational games and activities.

2. Good leadership, communication, and social skills.

Abilities

1. Communicate effectively with participants and parents.

2. Give clear and concise instructions.

Required Education and Experience

1. Participation in large group extracurricular activities.

2. Must be at least 15 years of age.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Enrolled in a secondary education program for Education, Park and Rec, or related field.

2. 1-year supervising children.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

1. Must pass required State and Federal Background Checks

Pay: $12.00 - $12.75 per hour
