Looking for a candidate interested in working for an employee-focused, thriving company! New opportunity for a Plumber to start at Freeland Contracting Company. Hours of work: 7am-3:30pm.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assembles, installs and repairs all components associated with commercial and/or industrial plumbing, hydronic and process piping systems.
  • Identifies and remains updated as to the composition and proper installation of all plumbing and piping trade-related materials including, but not limited to, the various types of piping, fittings, connectors, valves, fixtures specialties, and appurtenances available in the plumbing and piping industry.
  • Understands and safely operates the manually operated and powered tools required to properly execute the functions of the plumbing and piping related trades.
  • Learns and utilizes construction-related prevailing safety standards and requirements.
  • Utilizes basic and complex plumbing and piping related mathematical, functions required to properly and accurately perform the requirements of the plumbing trade.
  • Researches and interprets project documents (drawings/blueprints and specifications).
  • Learns and remains updated as to the prevailing code requirements of all aspects of work functions of the plumbing and piping trades.
  • Learns and utilizes the appointed company mandated record-keeping requirements.
  • Report to work, alert, well-rested, properly-dressed, drug and alcohol free, prepared, and on-time – made in an effort to efficiently, safely and professionally execute the rigors and responsibilities required in a commercial and/or industrial construction-related work environment.
  • Abide by all OSHA and/or Company prevailing safety requirements, company-related standards and policies, and Apprenticeship Standards.
  • Listen to and follow the instructions given by anyone in a position of authority, except in any situation when those instructions would violate OSHA and/or Company prevailing safety requirements, company-related standards and policies, or the Apprenticeship Standards.

  • Learn to utilize and remain current regarding information associated with the proper installation procedures plumbing and piping trade-related materials including, but not limited to, the various types of piping, fittings, connectors, valves, fixtures specialties, and appurtenances available in the plumbing and piping industry.
  • Safely use the manually operated and powered tools required to properly execute the functions of the plumbing and piping related trades.
  • Remain current with and put into practice construction-related safety standards and requirements.
  • Utilize basic plumbing and piping related mathematical, algebraic and geometric functions required to properly and accurately perform the requirements of the trade.
  • Research and execute the requirements stated in project documents (drawings/blueprints and specifications).
  • Learn and remain current regarding the prevailing code requirements of all aspects of work functions of the plumbing and piping trades.
  • Use and remain current regarding mandated company record-keeping requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Up to date on current technologies and with modern workplace trends.
  • Must have prior experience in the plumbing industry.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Troubleshooting and problem resolution ability.
  • Self-starter who can work through assignments with very little supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Some tasks will require moderate dexterity and moderate to high physical exertion through varied working positions, e.g. standing, kneeling, bending and overhead positions, working at heights plus digging and handling plumbing & building products. A Plumber is expected to be available during required working hours for both work placements and Training Center environments. A Plumber may be advised/required to be vaccinated against Hepatitis B due to potential for contact with liquid waste materials during some plumbing activities. Please note that all tasks carried out in conjunction with this position will be done so in accordance with OHS legislative requirements, codes of practice, job safety analysis and safe working/operating procedures.

POSITION TYPE:

This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
