Job Purpose or Objective : You will build the reputation of the Choctaw Nation with primary and secondary partners necessary to effectuate the public policy our goals. You will report to the Executive Director of Government Relations.

This role is located in Austin/Dallas, Texas Area

Remote Schedule

  • Monthly Onsite Visits to Choctaw Nation Headquarters in Durant, Oklahoma.
  • Monday-Friday

- 8:00 AM - 4:30 P.M.

Primary Tasks:

  • You will follow all tasks outlined in Senior Commerce Policy Analyst (Job Type: TR6A01) position, along with the following advanced level responsibilities.

  • You will manage PAC and other external entities, such as a 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(6), designed for political engagement on both the state and national levels. These responsibilities are aimed at building and using the Choctaw Nation's political clout.

  • You will manage outside legal counsel, accounting firm(s), filing agent(s), and consultant(s). File appropriate documents with attorneys, accountants, the Oklahoma Ethics Commission, and the Internal Revenue Service.

  • You will manage Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and Resolutions of the entities.

  • You will ensure compliance with relevant tribal, state, and federal laws and monitor potential threats to entities (ex., legal challenges to activities).

  • You will manage relations, with the following partner groups (i.e.: Tribal Members, Employees, Choctaw tribal leaders, Local, state, and national elected officials, other PAC's and 501 organizations, Communities within the reservation, other tribes, Think tanks)

  • You will coordinate with Choctaw Nation leadership, including Chief, Assistant Chief, the CFO, SEO's and other individuals to ensure openness, and communication.

  • You will manage the financial health of entities and ensuring dollars are being expended. Will be a fiduciary.

  • You will manage a contribution/expenditure plan and oversee vendors to perform political advertisements and other tactics in political races and on issue of public importance.

  • You will perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economics, Law or a related field.

  • Experience with federal, state and local legislation, regulation and judicial processes, and tribal sovereignty.

  • Proficiency conceptualizing, analyzing, writing and public speaking.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications.

  • Experience of community and special interest groups involved in relevant Commerce policy issues.

  • Unrestricted ability to travel.

  • Minimum of five years' experience working with federal, state, local, tribal government and federal Indian policy
