Lavish Roots is a local, family-owned, Certified Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) that provides Catering and Corporate dining in the Greater Seattle Area. Our day to day operations are not typical of industry "norms" as we produce, from scratch, gourmet cuisines from all over the world - and, they change daily!

Summary/Objective

As a representative for our company you will be responsible for helping maintain a clean work environment, and at times, assisting with any culinary related duties as instructed at our production kitchen.

Essential Functions (subject to change with proper notice)

• Sets up and maintains all sanitation and cleaning buckets for all workstations
• Responsible for checking and emptying all garbage, recycling, and compost as needed
• Maintains a clean area around all dumpsters outside
• Responsible for maintaining and emptying linen and laundry bags as needed
• Assists Cooks with washing, cleaning, and sanitizing certain kitchen equipment as needed or required
• Responsible for filling, cleaning, and maintaining the three-compartment sink in the main kitchen
• Responsible for washing, cleaning, and sanitizing the blast chillers
• Assist the Dish Machine Operators with dirty and clean dishes
• Assists Prep Cooks or Jr. Sous Chef(s) with any culinary related tasks as needed
• Wash, clean and sanitize all waste containers in the spray room
• Assist with any spills or messes in the kitchen as needed
• To project a positive and motivated attitude amongst all Team Members

Knowledge and Skills

• Basic culinary skills and beginning experience with high volume production
• Strong communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
• Sense of urgency and ability to work and lead a team within a safe manner

Education and Work Experience

• Experience in full service, moderate to high volume Restaurant, Club or Catering establishment preferred but not required

Work Environment

• Fast paced kitchen
• High sense of urgency

• Exposure to soap and cleaning solutions
• Slippery/uneven surfaces may be encountered
• Frequently moving from walk-in cooler/freezer to normal kitchen environment
• Occasional smoke, steam, and heat in a confined space

Requirements

• Ability to understand and communicate basic English (speaking, writing, and reading)
• Valid King County Food Handler Permit
• Completes Learn, Legal, and Privacy courses required by Meta
• Positions at this location require proof of COVID-19 vaccinations, boosters, and/or regular COVID-19 testing.

Physical Demands

• Some heavy lifting (may lift 10-40 lbs.) and possible moving of equipment required
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision for safe navigation of work area and use of equipment
• Heavy and repetitive hand and arm motion involved in production and clean up
• Standing, walking, bending, twisting, and balance are all required to perform job task
• Reaching across surfaces while moving containers, reaching above shoulders for containers for removal and storage
• Standing a minimum of 8 hours a day
• Carrying containers of different sizes and different types of product of all shapes and sizes
• Removing hot items from oven
• Able to work 10 hours or more shift plus ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time
• Must possess hearing, visual, and sensory abilities to observe and detect emergency situations; also distinguish product, taste, texture, and temperature
