The Power Plant Engineer provides technical support to the AECC portfolio of power plants and conducts other activities as needed to maintain safe and reliable power generation facilities. In this position, you will be given the opportunity to work alongside peers who are versatile, enthusiastic, and continuing to strive to push AECC and our mission forward.

Responsibilities:
  • Consults with and assists power plant personnel on maintenance, troubleshooting, and operations of systems and equipment.
  • Monitors health of major equipment and assists plant personnel with the development and execution of maintenance and testing programs for such equipment.
  • Collaborates with plant managers and staff to plan and carry out plant maintenance projects and activities.
  • Inspects power plants and reviews design and installation of equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Coordinates with plant personnel to provide engineering designs, equipment specifications, and other work package documentation to support reliability improvement projects for existing plant systems.
  • Manages vendor coordination, procurement of materials and services, work execution and closeout of plant projects as required.
  • Assists in Cooperative research and development efforts and works with outside research organizations as directed and as appropriate.
  • Keeps abreast of related current scientific developments and governmental regulations and uses every opportunity to become better qualified in this area of responsibility.
  • Participates in generation, co-generation, and renewable energy studies and works with the Manager - Production Maintenance to maximize utilization of AECC power plants.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with personnel of like responsibilities in industry to exchange technical information and to cooperate within projects of mutual interest.
  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position
Minimum Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuant to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to AECC/AECI standards and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Driver's License.

Minimum Experience Required

  • Engineer I: No experience required.
  • Engineer II: Minimum 2 years’ experience required.
  • Engineer III: Minimum 4 years’ experience required.
  • Sr Engineer: Minimum 8 years’ experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License – Arkansas.
  • Engineering Intern (EI) license in the State of Arkansas.
  • Experience as a plant/maintenance engineer, maintenance planner, or supervisor in a combined cycle power plant is preferred.
  • Project / outage management experience with an emphasis in electrical and/or controls.
  • Adept at troubleshooting and resolving power plant related issues and have strong interpersonal skills.
