Bethany Lutheran Church is looking for a qualified Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our Preschool Team. You must have a passion for serving younger children and for supporting them socially, emotionally and spiritually. The Assistant Preschool Teacher will work with the Lead Teacher.

This position is Part Time - 20 hours per week. Monday - Thursday 47 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

• Know and comply with the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services' Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers
• Provide a positive method of discipline and guidance to children that encourages self-esteem, self-control and self-direction.
• Be willing to float, substitute or assist in other classrooms as needed.
• Assist as needed in the planning and preparation of the learning environment
• Ensure that all equipment, toys, mats, potties etc. are sanitized and disinfected prior to the arrival of the children and after their dismissal.
• Inspect the active play space/playground and equipment to ensure there are not hazards present. Report any hazards or defects.
• Know what children you are responsible for and supervise them at all time.
• Assist in carrying out age-appropriate activities
• Help each child to become aware of his/her role as an integral member of the class and the preschool

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Assistant Preschool Teacher
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to read and implement directions and instructions well
• Must be able to be active and engaged with children and their families for approximately 5 hours a day.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.50 per hour
