Prevention Coordinator (Full-time) (Santa Ana, CA)
Job description
Salary: $64,480.00 Annually
Reporting to the Program Director, the Prevention Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and direction to an assigned school district prevention & intervention team. The Coordinator serves as a primary liaison with district and school management personnel to identify strategies and actions to implement the goals and objectives of the program tailored to the districts and schools' needs. The Coordinator will plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate culturally relevant behavioral health prevention and intervention services for youth, parents, and school personnel using evidence-based practices, and strength-based intervention services standards. The Coordinator utilizes the PBIS approach in decision making and program management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide supervision to the Prevention/Intervention team on the delivery of services, procedures, documentation, program implementation, professional ethics, and standards of conduct.
- Provides training and supervision to Prevention and Intervention Specialists in the areas of classroom management techniques, procedures, curricula delivery, curricula design, programming, assessment and referral procedures, program documentation, professional ethics and standards of conduct.
- Responsible for performance management of team members to include hiring, training, coaching, professional development, performance evaluation, and general supervision.
- Observes prevention and intervention services provided to ensure that appropriate curricula, best practices, and methods are being used and that high-quality services are being delivered.
- Provides coaching as needed to develop prevention specialist's skills and improve the quality of services.
- Review and approve staff documentation relating to program delivery, participant records, time records, leave requests, and other programmatic documentation.
- Conduct required staff training sessions as assigned, including new staff training.
- Present, facilitate and co-facilitate various group, individual, family, and public education presentations.
- Monitors program expenditures to ensure compliance with established budgets and contract guidelines
- Promote and utilize a research-based curriculum for youth to ensure fidelity to the model curricula.
- Conduct crisis intervention, behavioral health screenings, assessments, or referrals when needed.
- Collect data and complete reports for compliance with Phoenix House or funding agency requirements.
- Form relationships and linkages with schools in the local community to develop community resources, market, publicize and integrate Phoenix House services, in particular, school-based behavioral health intervention and support services
- Attends and conducts team meetings and assures that effective prevention protocols and practices are followed, and reviews program progress for monitoring fidelity to curricula and effectiveness of the program.
- Attend and participate in a local school, community, staff, and other meetings in accordance with program needs.
- Attends all required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements, completes all training on time
- Attends and participates in program and all staff meetings
- Adheres to and promotes the Phoenix House Mission, Vision, and Values while acting as a role model for others
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent in this position supervises the Prevention Specialists
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS
- Master's degree in education, community prevention education social work, or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Two years' experience in community prevention, intervention, or behavioral health education
- Two years' experience working with children is required.
- Must maintain a valid California Drivers' License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy

- Skills and ability to engage and develop a rapport with patients and families of various backgrounds
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
