The Prevention Specialist is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and implementation of a comprehensive primary prevention program in the community. The Prevention Specialist reports directly to the Outreach Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet the goals of the funders
- Participate in the County-wide Prevention Coalition and Workgroup meetings
- Actively recruit new community members/organizations that can support the mission of the Coalition.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Coalition members.
- Develop a community action/policy change activity with community partners, which will be monitored by the Prevention Specialist
- Direct Supervisor. Must complete at least 1 major Community Action Plan (PSA, Billboard, etc.)Secure sites to implement a DOW approved primary prevention strategy to a minimum of 30 consistent program participants' sites. A consistent program participant is defined as one whom has completed 7-9 doses of the implemented program. No limit on implementation sites
- Participate in DOW site visits/technical assistance and attend monthly DOW meetings, Bystander/Gender Equity Workgroup meetings at NJCASA
- Assist with the development and ongoing prevention related activities, to include but not limited to, Denim Day and Social Norms Messaging
- Manage and post on social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitte
- Provide training and assistance to volunteers and staff in conducting prevention presentations/activities as needed.
- Coordinate and present prevention education programs about sexual violence and bystander intervention in schools, community centers, church groups, and social service agencies in the community.
- Maintain quarterly and monthly statistical and programmatic reports.
- Maintain documentation on all prevention and education related activities, following state and agency guidelines
- Submit required evaluation data, must complete Process and Outcomes evaluation for all sites and submit to DOW.
- Collect data relevant to sexual violence in New Jersey.
- The Prevention Specialist is responsible for responding to hotline services to include answering the 24 -Hour Hotline, Chat and SERV email and providing direct services to victims/survivors of sexual and domestic violence/intimate partner violence as needed.
- Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operations of the program.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelors Degree in communications, education, human services, criminal justice, or marketing is required.
- The Prevention Specialist must successfully complete the 60-hour New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence Advocacy Training provided by Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV).
- The Prevention Specialist must have experience working with people and demonstrated sensitivity toward the needs of individuals affected by domestic violence/intimate partner violence and sexual violence.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and public speaking is required. Effective verbal and written and communication in Spanish is preferred.
- The Prevention Specialist must be able to work collaboratively with other community organizations, including other sexual violence and domestic violence service providers, medical facilities, law enforcement and other governmental agencies, social service organizations and schools.
