Store Support Center

Salary Range: $83,579.25 - 102,834.00

We are searching for an experienced Private Label Product Manager who will lead the effort in developing new private label items into the Chedraui banners of El Super, Fiesta, and Chedraui Mexico.

Position resides at our Store Support Center, located at 600 Citadel Drive, Commerce, CA 90040.

The Product Manager reports directly to the Vice President, Private Label and manages specific private label categories and has responsibility for all private label facets of business within the assigned categories. Position leads the efforts in developing and introducing new private label items into all existing and new banners throughout the organization.

Work in this role involves strategic sourcing, pricing analysis, vendor management, data collection, and any other duties determined to facilitate this initiative. The Product Manager must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, communication skills both oral and written, and strong analytical skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Negotiates with vendors for all components of private label vendors and products. This includes:
  • Determines supplier source for respective private label categories.
  • Negotiates all aspects of vendor relationship, including product cost, terms, supply chain parameters.
  • Works with Strategic Sourcing department on RFP process as it may relate to new item sourcing and pricing.
  • Coordinates with suppliers and the Quality Assurance Department to ensure all new items meet item specifications and all other guidelines that may apply
  • Collaborates with category managers in all banners to generate new items in new markets that contribute sales and margin to the category.
  • Works with Private Label Marketing team on packaging development.
  • Interfaces with the category managers by participating in category reviews and analysis. This includes space management, marketing, operations, pricing and merchandising.
  • Maintains awareness in market trends and analyzes market data from IRI, Nielsen and other reliable sources. Visits competitive retail stores on a regular basis.
  • Stays updated on all competitive situations for key items and reacts when necessary.
  • Audits competitive product selection, displays and pricing through on-site visits.
  • Works with existing private label product managers to help facilitate vendor and new item progress.
  • Seeks to understand and learn the market dynamics for shoppers in new banners and markets.
  • Develops new and/or unique private label items positioned to the customer in new banners and markets
  • Develops detailed timelines and tracking mechanisms to ensure all deadlines are met for execution of new private label into all / new store banners
  • Travels to respective marketplaces, as required.
  • Works on other ad hoc projects, as determined necessary.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Works throughout levels of organization to achieve budgeted goals and objectives.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A or B.S.) from a 4 year college or university
  • Two years relevant experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish desired
  • Experience in importing/exporting to Asia and/or Mexico a plus

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES


  • Must have strong negotiation skills and be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and possess a general ability to adapt to new software.
  • Must be able to develop, manipulate, format and share spreadsheets for purposes of analysis.
  • Knowledge of Access or a similar relational database is desirable.
  • Ability to analyze external and internal data, interpret and make decisions and recommendations to management based off of this data.
