Process Engineer 1 Fluosolids (New Graduate)

Claremont, CA (Los Angeles County)

The successful candidate will be involved analysis and design of fluidized bed reactors and other high temperature process equipment and systems for a variety of applications in the chemical, metallurgical, and environmental fields.

WORK PERFORMED:

Perform engineering analysis and design of process equipment and systems under the direction of project lead engineers as directed by an engineering and technology manager.

Prepare documented calculations, analysis and design work, and check calculations performed by others in accordance with company and department procedures.

Prepare heat and material balance calculations for process systems using a combination of process simulation software, Excel tools, and other resources. Check heat and material balance output prepared by others.

Evaluate engineering problems related to equipment design and process systems and present the findings in the form of technical reports and presentations.

Prepare technical specifications for process equipment and systems.

Evaluate the suitability of process equipment to meet specified requirements, and prepare technical comparisons of various options.

Provide engineering input for equipment and process design drawings (process flow diagrams, P&IDs, etc.), and coordinate with CAD designers in the generation of drawings.

Review design drawings for accuracy and compliance with company, department, and project procedures and requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering. Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering is preferred, but not required. Any candidate with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science, and an enthusiasm for the work will be considered.

Skills:

The successful candidate should have:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills using the English language
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required
  • Familiarity with process simulation software is a plus, particularly HSC Chemistry or Aspen+
  • Basic working knowledge of computer assisted design (CAD) software is preferred
  • Ability and motivation to work with moderate supervision to produce on-time results
  • Interest to work and contribute within a multi-disciplinary team structure toward a common goal
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge and learning new skills

The Salary Range for this position is $75K - $90K.
