Purpose of the Position:

Key member of the next-generation textured glass process development team. Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one relevant critical process competency, including sandblasting, coatings, and printing/patterning. Work closely with other materials and process SMEs to integrate into an effective process. Support the successful transfer to mass production.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Development of one or more textured glass processes, under overall direction from project leader and process development leader.

• Direct the activities of technicians in support of the process development.
• Documentation in support of process deployments including machine. specifications, operating procedures, and process conditions and sensitivities.
• Sample generation for customer engagement as needed.
• Actively support a safe work environment.

Education & Experience: BS or higher in materials science, chemical or mechanical engineering, reliability/fractography, or related, with emphasis on materials processing.

Required Skills:

• Hands-on process R, D, & E experience and demonstrated aptitude in developing new products and processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, scientific curiosity, and inventiveness.
• Strong initiative and self-motivation, and able to manage multiple tasks in parallel.
• Able to independently define problem hypothesis statements, design experiments, and evaluate data using engineering and statistical tools.
• Makes sound decisions by blending analytical thinking, practical judgment, and available data.

Desired Skills:

• Relevant experience in an industrial Research & Development environment. (In Manufacturing, prefferably Glass)
• Experience with glass or similar brittle materials.
• Sound understanding of manufacturing principals.

Soft Skills:

• Able to work effectively in multidisciplinary technical project teams.
• Ability to work closely with internal and external customers across multiple cultures around the world to meet their requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Travel Requirements: Less than 10%
