JOB TITLE: Setup Technician

JOB CLASSIFICATION & PAY GRADE: Non Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing

RESPONSIBLE TO: Molding Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Setup including, installation and removal of molds, and auxillaries in plastic injection molding machines. Ensure molds are set in presses according to setup work instructions, setup sheets and in a timely manner.

  • Set up machines for continuous production by positioning and aligning mold, connecting water, hydraulics and air feeds as required
  • Follows our safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
  • Remove and install molds in plastic injection molding machines
  • Keep all machines and auxiliary equipment clean and organized
  • Work toward continuous improvement of all mold change and machine set up procedures
  • Provide ongoing support to shift supervisors to optimize all production runs.
  • Assists process technicians with processing and machine combinations for easy reference and quicker setups
  • Learns to apply and support lean manufacturing principles
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
  • Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment
  • Support current production needs for trouble shooting and process improvement.
  • Participate in activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements.
  • Review processing methods.
  • Ensures ISO and safety standards are adhered
  • Understand and execute all plant policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain positive team member relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software. Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of EPTAM’s software packages (IQMS).
  • Good housekeeping and safe working habits.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • EDUCATION: Trade school graduate or associates degree or a combination of experience and education.
  • Experience: 1+ years experience in an injection molding operation
  • Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing/molding operation
  • OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess good written and verbal communication skills with our internal and external customers. Basic knowledge of equipment. Advanced ability to read prints and use measuring equipment along with advanced math skills.
  • Demonstrates experience in performance development, teaching/leading, mentoring and/or organization development. Instills appropriate behavior in others in support of EPTAM values

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires continuous lifting of 1 lb. – 10 lbs.
  • Requires frequent lifting of 11 lbs. – 35 lbs.
  • Requires occasional lifting of 36+ lbs.
  • Requires continuous standing.
  • Requires occasional bending and reaching.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention associated with operation of machinery.
  • Standing and moving between multiple pieces of equipment required for shift duration.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Protective eyewear be worn by every employee working in the tool shop, maintenance area, mixing area or working with hand tools or machinery
  • Safety shoes are required in shipping and receiving, tool shop, maintenance shop and anyone using a hoist.
  • Hearing protection not required, but strongly recommended.
  • Proper ergonomic practices must be used at all times.
  • Adherence to all OSHA regulations and the EPTAM Precision’s Employee Safety Manual is required.
