Sr Manager, R&D Franchise Engagement Lead
Research & Development Procurement is recruiting for a Senior Manager, R&D Franchise Engagement Lead. We are working to create a world without disease. The Sr Manager, R&D Franchise Engagement will be engaging global R&D stakeholders in the Pharmaceutical sector to understand their Procurement needs and ensure appropriate support. This includes approximately $1B in annual, global spend for these R&D stakeholders. This role is a critical bridge for stakeholder management and the awareness and utilization of category strategies across franchises in scope. The role is responsible for ensuring alignment between Procurement strategy, the Business Plan, and critical Franchise and Regional Leadership Teams. In addition, the role is responsible for supporting and communicating the long-term procurement vision and strategy, including multi-year strategic frameworks and roadmaps that address enterprise and business needs business leaders. The Sr Manager will report to and support the Director of Franchise Engagement, who is accountable for Franchise Engagement activities and strategies across these R&D stakeholders.
The Sr Manager's scope of responsibilities includes:
Drive the Procurement vision for, with and through the stakeholder community
Serves as the primary Procurement contact engaging with Business Stakeholders with operational/executional responsibility, including Franchise & Functional leaders to drive business planning and decision making and execution across the procurement function. The Sr Manager routinely leads stakeholder engagement at Director level and below, but occasionally at higher levels.
Understand long range requirements of these business partners and engage in strategic planning and partnering to ensure alignment. Solicits their unmet needs to identify and champion opportunities for supplier enabled innovation.
Deliver on financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments
Identifies business demand requirements and engages with Sub-Category Leads (across Families) and R&D Procurement Global Leadership Team members to deliver annual value improvements and competitive advantage.
Build and maintain relationships throughout JNJ that results in dynamic interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives to drive optimal approaches and solutions
Continuously monitors the needs of the business and ensure Procurement is meeting these requirements
Participate in governance management boards to focus on different levels of detail regarding scope, service delivery & operational issues
Change agent for eMarketplace and contracting services continuous improvements. Partner with Global Services, Legal, R&D, and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate service delivery.
Facilitates strong collaboration across our three-tier model to ensure "One Procurement” support to the business
Escalate sensitive issues that may impact the Global Procurement organization in a highly confidential manner.
In an agile spirit, sometimes take the lead in initiating, implementing, or executing initiatives identified above to help meet the business's emerging needs in top priority areas.

Qualifications
Required:
A BS/BA degree in an applicable field of study
At least 8 years of related experience in a Business Operations, Supply Chain, Finance and/or Procurement environment is required
Strong verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information
Ability to shape organizational evolution and drive continuous improvement opportunities
Customer Orientation (building and maintaining strong relationships with JNJ leaders)
Strong leadership, vison and strategy setting, communication, influencing, and collaboration
Strong project and change management capabilities
Business Acumen and ability to Connect the business to the Procurement Function
High level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community
Influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., business, Procurement SLT, Commercial, R&D, Supply Chain); has "presence "
Track record in leading cross-functional teams and significant influencing role(s)
Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization can effectively and efficiently move through transitions
The ability to travel up to 10% across the USA and/or Europe.

Preferred:
An advanced degree or MBA
At least 3 years of Pharmaceutical Procurement experience
Experience leading the discovery of unmet business needs and implementation of solutions
Hands-on experience working in, or supporting, eMarketplace
Broad-based understanding of Procurement's operations, processes, 3 tier model, as well as core Procurement areas of focus (Spend Management, Category Management and Supplier Management)

Multi-country and multi-sector experience with experience across geographies of varied sizes and businesses.
