Job Description


Product Excellence provides product, specifications, certification, and standard services for the company.

The Product Specialist II develops industry superior products and functional structural detailing solutions. The role insures that products meet or exceed customer expectations and create added value to the total in place building construction while contributing to EBIT. The Specialist thoroughly evaluates product details such that they satisfy identified form, fit, and function and also maintains products and tables for company component and engineering software.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide current and accurate technical documentation and literature to both internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical support services and product application criteria to both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain products and tables for company component and engineering software
  • Improve existing products, engineering tools, and maintain the value proposition of existing products.
  • Assist the business to establish the cost/benefit/performance relationship of company products.
  • Work with Purchasing and Manufacturing for product and process improvements.
  • Provide guidance and set policy regarding interpretation of design specifications, building codes, and company policy.
  • Assist company organizations worldwide through technical product support services.
  • Train and mentor other team members
  • Lead/manage multiple team members on complex projects
  • Teach product classes to internal personnel or Builders as assigned

Qualifications


Minimum qualifications
:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 10 years of industry experience
  • Extensive internal product knowledge
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or another similar computer software
  • Good working knowledge of company engineering software
  • Working knowledge of product definition tables and structures
  • Understanding of how steel structures are fabricated and erected
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Good understanding of construction practices and methods

Preferred:

  • Associate or Bachelor college degree
