Job description
1st Shift Production Operator 6 am - 2 pm M-F
2nd Shift Production Operator 2pm - 10pm M-F
3rd Shift Production Operator 10pm - 6am M-F
SUMMARY: The Production Operator tends fabricating machines, such as molding presses, die cutoff presses, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and machines that punch, mold, cut, shape and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the following duties.
ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITES: Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for working on production line doing various tasks within the facility.
Tasks include assembling parts, trimming parts and inspecting parts.
Some tasks will be physically demanding.
Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Able to read and write in English
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Must have excellent attendance and comply with Company Handbook, Policies and Procedures
All shifts must be agreeable and flexible to switch between shift start times with 1 week notice (applies to plants with varied shift times)
Must be flexible and agreeable to change work cell as production needs demands
Operate manual and automated equipment
Determines machine adjustments and material requirements as specified in the job instructions
Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies
Pull damaged or ineffective equipment off the line
Mark parts for identification
Sets stops or guides to specifications
Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade
Activates machine
Operate equipment safely and effectively for production processing
Meet or exceed production standards in a repetitive manufacturing environment
Visually inspect work pieces for defects or machine malfunctions
Stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished work pieces
Performs routine FIRST LINE SAFETY daily
Repair and clean the equipment when needed
Ensure that equipment are maintained in good and safe working condition
Inspect equipment to identify any replacements, malfunctions and repairs
Perform regular equipment maintenance to ensure production capacity and quality
Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements
Provide assistance to junior operators in their assigned responsibilities
Assists other team members and promotes a team mentality
Employee must be able to work and communicate with the other team members and be able to work with others in team to attain KPI measureables and goals.
Work under the guidance of Supervisor to perform and complete the assigned duties in timely manner
Follow safety procedures and company policies for equipment operation
Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety
Identify and report unsafe operations to Supervisor immediately and fill out, with the assistance of your Supervisor, Hutchinson Incident Reporting Form # H10.F29.001.
Maintain the work area clean, safe and organized
Other assigned duties.
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Ear Plugs, Safety Glasses and Safety Toe Shoes are a work Requirement and part of the job uniform. Employees are responsible for properly maintaining their PPE and immediately reporting any issues with their PPE to their Supervisor or Group Leader.

Must be able to lift 40 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 45 pounds.
To the fullest extent possible, utilizing documented quality systems, responsibility includes initiating action to prevent the occurrence of product nonconformity; initiating, recommending or providing solutions through designated channels; identifying and recording any quality problems; verifying the implementation of solutions and controlling further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until he deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
All operators that generate and transport hazardous waste will be required to have RCRA training every three (3) years.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or upon exception with management approval.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, use labeling systems and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
JOB REQUIRES:
Maximum Lifting/Carrying of 45 lbs. With Frequency Lifting/Carrying of 0.5 to 45 lbs.
WORK SHEDULE:
Number of Hours/Day = 8 hours
Number of Days/Week = 5 to 6 days
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee will have continuous periods of walking, pivoting, standing, bending, crawling, stooping and crouching around conveyors and/or production equipment.
The Employee is required to walk, climb or balance and frequently reach/lift at various degrees. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. The employee must be able to employ sound judgment and safe practice per Operational and Work Cell instructions and ask for assistance with lifting.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee will be required to use fine motor skills of the hands and fingers continuously for extended periods of time processing, trimming, inspecting and packing parts. The employee will be required to use various hand tools i.e. Cutters, Trimmers, Sharp Blades, Scissors and Screwdrivers (tools will vary with position).
