Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Planning Supervisor, is responsible for the development and maintenance of the MPS. The role of the planner is responsible for on-time delivery and production schedule creation and maintenance. As the master scheduler, this position is also responsible for planning and scheduling the workflow for each department and operation according to manufacturing sequences and lead times.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
- Production-planning oversight, scheduling for production, preparing production schedules for manufacturing of optical components and assemblies using Epicor MRP system.
- Making sure each operation meets required completion dates according to manufacturing plan, sales forecasts or customer orders.
- Analyzing production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
- Schedules, expedites, & coordinates the delivery & movement of critical material, including material transfers & material releases.
- Planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Planning sequence of assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
- Determining the status of assigned projects, expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Preparing production reports utilizing MRP system (Epicor)
- May also prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
- Plans the process for manufacture, fabrication, assembly, erection or installation of parts, components, assemblies, etc.
- Analyzes and interprets construction bills of material, scopes, specifications, etc., to determine the content & plan manageable work elements.
- Prepares defined work packages, including detailed instructions, drawings, bills of material, references, inspection requirements, etc., to initiate and control production work.
- Monitors, analyzes & reports performance to schedule of production & production support activities, utilizing information derived from material and production control systems (Epicor)
- Ensures all parties are fully cognizant of production status, & that work planning and execution objectives are integrated & communicated.
- Analyzes requests for maintenance/repair services & determines the validity, content & scope of requested work.
- Coordinates & expedites the placement of purchase orders and/or delivery of material.
- Interfaces w/Purchasing, Production, Manufacturing Engineering and other departments to ensure all material transactions are accurate and timely.
- Resolves problems utilizing acquired knowledge & analytical abilities.
Additional Requirements:
- A flexible attitude, strong customer service and communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Highly skilled with extensive experience with Excel, Epicor MRP and MS Office
- Extensive experience with Visual Enterprise ERP/MRP software and scheduling tools a must
Educational Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 to 4 years recent production planning experience utilizing ERP/MRP in a manufacturing environment
- A flexible attitude, strong customer service and communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Highly skilled with extensive experience with Excel, Epicor MRP and MS Office
- Extensive experience with Visual Enterprise ERP/MRP software and scheduling tools a must
Environment & Physical Demands:
- Professional office environment with routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machine; noise level typical of a standard office environment
- Prolonged sitting, computer and telephone use, as well as standing, filing, bending, reaching and lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds
- Occasional exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, etc.)
