Purpose:

Supervises and schedules shop employees in a manufacturing environment, plans and assigns work assignments, implements policies and procedures, monitors quality issues, schedules employees and evaluates performance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures effective employee relations providing employee coaching, development, and problem solving. Responsible for identifying hiring needs, interviewing, promotions, demotions, and terminations where applicable.
  • Evaluates employee production standards, addresses disciplinarily issues and conducts employee performance appraisals
  • Develop and coach Team Lead’s
  • Enforces company policies and procedures including human resources, manufacturing, QS 9000/TS, and safety
  • Works with Plant Manager to ensure short and long-term manufacturing goals are developed and accountable to being achieved
  • Proactively suggests innovative solutions to ensure Ritus maintains its competitive edge
  • Schedules staff personnel ensuring each shift is appropriately covered to meet production schedules. Responsible to ensure equipment is running to standard and optimize efficiency. Utilize direct and indirect labor appropriately to support production requirements.
  • Ensures proper tooling and materials are available for job orders
  • Provides positive working environment where policies are enforced, employees are treated fairly and are motivated to excel in their performance
  • Monitors quality control determining how to address quality related problems
  • Responsible for shop cleanliness, organization, and safety
  • Evaluates 1st piece approvals to release product to production
  • Monitors inventory supplies and completes requisitions as needed
  • Ensures production time cards are accurately completed at the end of each shift
  • All area targets are accurate and being met
  • Evaluates daily PIL (Parts Inspection Log) identifying problem area and suggests ideas for process improvement

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in industrial, mechanical or operations field preferred or equivalent combination or education and experience.

Experience Skills: 3+ years experience as a Ritus Lead Person or Quality Technician or 3-5 + years experience as Production Supervisor in QS9000/TS manufacturing environment, preferably in rubber/plastics industry.

Technical Skills: Experienced with production scheduling, inventory management, possesses an overall understanding of quality and safety measures. Experience working with compression/transfer presses or CNC machining preferred.

Language Skills: Must be a good communicator to establish rapport with employees, internal contacts, and outside customers and vendors.

Math Skills: Basic understanding of general math skills and the metric system.

Specific Skills: Forklift certified. Trained as 1st responder.

Decision Making/Operation Skills: Must be able to make quick decisions in emergency situations, able to establish long-term goals improving overall department and employee performance.

Supervisory Skills: Must have experience supervising and training 10+ person department, must be able to motivate and develop employees.

Other Necessary Skills: Familiar with MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, and basic internet/emailing capabilities. Must also possess solid organizational and problem solving skills.


Physical Requirements:

  • May require occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • May be on his/her feet for extended periods of time
  • While performing job duties employee must be able walk, stand, talk, and hear others in conversion over the phone or in person. Must be able to work with fingers to type, complete paperwork, and handle other administrative functions
  • Must have good eyesight for visual inspection of parts

Work Environment:

  • Employee is exposed to press temperatures of 400-500 degrees
  • Exposed to moderate to high noise levels
