What will you do?

The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator supports the expansion of internships and other forms of work-based learning opportunities to build a highly skilled regional workforce and support business needs. The WBL Coordinator develops and maintains positive relationships with diverse stakeholders as they relate to the development and implementation of various WBL programs. The position assists with expanding WBL opportunities across fifteen localities in GO Virginia Region 3. These experiences include internships, teacher externships, and support for the online career exploration and work-based learning platform, MajorClarity. The WBL Coordinator will also organize and facilitate quality-of-place activities for interns.

Desired Experience, Knowledge, & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with workforce and/or training program development and management required.
• Experience with at least one of the following: Business services, K-12 education (formal or informal), postsecondary education, and/or training in one or more areas required.
• Experience in coordinating program, meeting, and travel logistics.
• Experience with program evaluation and data collection.
• Understanding of and experience with internship programming preferred, with ability to identify and mitigate risk when working with vulnerable populations.
• Experience with programs to identify areas for expansion, appropriate solutions or termination preferred.
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, project coordination, and research skills required to successfully manage multiple tasks and programs simultaneously.
• Current and relevant knowledge of regional needs and available resources
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; with experience in public speaking.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal instruction.
• Grant development / administration, and knowledge of federal, state, and local funding resources preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel throughout Virginia as well as occasional out-of-state trips.

Additional Details

This position is funded for a minimum of three years. IALR cannot guarantee funding beyond the current grant period; however, depending on the program's success, IALR will continue requesting funding beyond the current three-year period.
