Program:

Sunnyside Community Services, an innovative community-based, social service organization in Queens (10 minutes by subway from Grand Central), is seeking an experienced bilingual Spanish speaking Program Director to join our newly formed Elder Justice team. The program supports services that prevent abuse from happening, protect people from abusive situations, support people who have experienced abuse to help them recover, and preserve, promote, and empower the independence, choice, and financial security of the client. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and craft the vision and overall direction for a new program to our continuum.

Position Summary:

The Program Director will work under the supervision of the Assistant Division Director for Older Adult Services to provide leadership implementing and managing the programmatic and administrative elements of the Elder Justice program. The Program Director is expected to be knowledgeable of family abuse, violence, and exploitation, and experience working with Older Adults and their families.

The Program Director will provide direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, to ensure Elder Justice Workers are receiving sufficient referrals, and providing prompt assessments, case support, case plans and case note documentation, counseling, and supportive case management. Program Director, as needed on an emergency or crisis basis, will provide guidance and case assistance support, when advanced Clinical interventions are necessary for the safety of the client and/or their family and in cases beyond the expertise of the Program Supervisor.

The Program Director will ensure staff training and development plans are executed by the Program Supervisor and assist with collaborative and expansive outreach in diverse communities, engaging appropriate community linkages, and ensuring a timely referral process of potential clients to the program and Elder Justice Workers for screening and assessment.

Job Qualifications:

· LMSW with 5+ years direct supervisory experience of social workers providing case management, case assistance, and/or counseling services.

· Three years’ experience working with older adult populations and their families.

· Bilingual, Spanish mandatory; candidates with other multi-lingual capacities strongly encouraged to apply.

· Experience in Crisis Intervention, Trauma-informed Care, and client-centered, strengths-based counseling modalities including DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Somatic Therapies, preferred.

· SIFI certification a plus.

· Strong leadership skills with the ability to thrive in an environment with diverse stakeholders.

· Excellent problem resolution, planning and decision-making abilities regarding personnel and client issues.

· Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

· Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; and familiarity with client databases STARS/Peer Place and Salesforce a plus.

· Time management skills to coordinate multiple responsibilities and services.

· Ability to work independently and as part a team, in both a home and office environment.

· Maintain client and agency confidentiality.

· Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately with other team members, community agencies, and clients with diverse opinions, values, characteristics, and cultures.

· In office, home visits, field work, and telecommuting when applicable.

Physical Requirements:

· Bending, sitting, stooping, and standing, walking up and down stairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Supervises the Program Supervisor and all aspects of the program, including the performance of Elder Justice Workers, supporting the Program Supervisor’s clinical services to high-risk clients, training initiatives, and outreach duties.

· Oversee program hiring and staffing, program budget, unit and service delivery, allocation of supplemental supports, client services, protocols.

· Uses social work expertise to guide supervisees for the best client care management and crisis intervention. In the absence of a Program Supervisor, Program Director will support Elder Justice Workers to ensure no gaps of service to client.

· Ensures program’s monitoring and planning to meet their program deliverables and assists with keeping staff on track towards meeting their funders’ goals. Completemonthly and quarterly reporting for funders and community stakeholders, while ensuring accountability of Supervisor’s role in monitoring staff documentation of client case in DFTA funded Peer Place.

· Ensures and documents robust training calendar for Elder Justice staff to increase skill development and incorporate emerging evidence-based practices in the field of Elder Justice.

· Collaborates with local community to identify clients for program through outreach and provide educational training through ongoing relationships with community centers, health centers, local libraries, faith-based centers, legal assistance programs within Western Queens.

· Attends and actively partners in case conferences and consultations, staff training, and team meetings with Safe Horizon and other community partners. Maximize strengths of partnership referrals through case reviews, case conferences, staff training, and outreach.

· Collaborate intra-agency with Sunnyside Community Services program leadership, such as SCS’s HHA training program, Center for Older Adults, Case Management, Caregiver Support Programs, Adult Day Services, and more, to facilitate referrals and ensure prompt follow up and assessment by Elder Justice Workers.

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the program.
