CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

The Department of Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) within the College of Education and Human Development is a diversified Department with undergraduate and graduate programs that require a close working relationship with the State of Delaware, federal Agencies, local school systems, and numerous Health and Service agencies.

The Department houses the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood (DIEEC). The DIEEC supports early childhood workforce and programming services for children aged six weeks to twelve years of age through the translation of evidence-based practices to community-based settings as well as the generation of new knowledge via applied research. The DIEEC serves the State and nation through the provision of professional development for early childhood educators in family childcare and center-based childcare programs, technical assistance to early care and education programs through Delaware’s quality rating and improvement system, direct services to children and families through the New Directions Early Head Start program, and applied research in diverse early care and education settings.

The Program Manager, Online Learning works under the general direction of the Associate Director, Early Childhood. This position will develop and coordinate online learning strategies and services in line with the strategic vision and priorities of the DIEEC and will oversee DIEEC staff working towards these efforts. The Program Manager, Online Learning will collaborate with internal partners to ensure effectiveness and productivity.

This position is a full-time grant-funded position.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, coordinates, and oversees planning and implementation of DIEEC professional development supports delivered through online platforms.
  • Evaluates and adapts DIEEC online learning supports, using data for progress monitoring and to inform quality improvement efforts.
  • Collaborates with Delaware early childhood professionals, State and community partners, DIEEC staff, and University of Delaware online learning professionals.
  • Supervises DIEEC program staff.
  • Conducts observations of and provides strength-based feedback to DIEEC staff developing and delivering professional development supports through online platforms.
  • Contributes to preparation of reports and maintenance of records to meet contractual deliverables.
  • Contributes to long-range strategic planning for DIEEC.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred, in educational technology, early childhood education or related field, with four years of job-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In depth knowledge of adult learning and recommended practices for early care and education.
  • In depth knowledge of learning management systems and recommended practices for online learning.
  • Experience in supervising and managing staff.
  • Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Must be detail-oriented, proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools and Google suite of tools.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in collaboration and building partnerships as well as the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures and backgrounds.
