Role:

Creates and modifies computer programs by converting project requirements into code.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the VP of Software Engineering and Development to design, code and test logical structures for solving problems by computer.
  • Maintains department standards for control, security, and recoverability and validate they are understood and followed; coordinates with other I.T. Technical Support staff to assure that appropriate I.T. computing standards are implemented and maintained; manages software revisions to assure compliance with standards and control procedures.
  • Maintain and modify programs; create documentation, including technical manuals and user manuals.
  • Provides general programming and analytic support for other technology or DP issues, i.e. audio response system, automated telephone attendant, imaging, fax technology, data format conversion, etc.
  • Assists in development of internal documentation of procedures for development and use of PC & DP system applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Two years to eight years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Other Skills

  • Java, SQL, C#, or similar language specialization a must.
  • Financial institution experience a huge plus.
  • Must be analytical, able to concentrate, and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to test and troubleshoot code, using experience to create scenarios and pick out possible anomalies.
  • Skill and ability to use and operate a keyboard (typewriter), computer, calculator, fax machine, copier and telephone. Skill and ability to read and understand financial statements, contracts, applications, computer printouts, manuals and other related materials.
  • Must have the skill and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
