Wilderstein is a not-for-profit historic house museum with 40-acres of grounds and trails open to the public. The estate was the home of Margaret (Daisy) Suckley, a distant cousin and confidante of Franklin Roosevelt. With its exquisite Queen Anne mansion and Calvert Vaux designed landscape, Wilderstein is widely regarded as the Hudson Valley's most important example of Victorian architecture.

Qualified candidates are being sought for the position of Programs & Events Coordinator for part-time employment of up to 20 hours per week. Flexible schedule Tuesday through Saturday. Seasonable flexiblity possible.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Programs & Events Coordinator will be responsible for managing all public programming at Wilderstein Historic Site. Duties include but are not limited to:

Events:

  • Both independently and together with Wilderstein’s events committee – create and deliver outstanding events and experiences that attract, engage and retain supporters with the goal of increasing the number of annual events and net income from events.
  • Develop Wilderstein’s annual calendar of programs and events.
  • Seek out new event sponsors to increase financial support for events.
  • Manage budgets and deliver events within agreed upon costs.
  • Organize logistics for each event, and assign roles and tasks for all involved.
  • Devise and execute creative marketing and communications strategies to assist with events.
  • Create and develop both digital and printed materials for all events.
  • Seek out new partnerships with other community organizations to broaden Wilderstein’s audience through joint events.

Tours:

  • Both independently and in coordination with Wilderstein’s tour program committee – oversee all aspects Wilderstein’s public tour offerings.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, orientation, training, retention, supervision, and recognition of Wilderstein’s volunteers.
  • Arrange for florists and designers to decorate the Wilderstein mansion for the holiday tour season and manage the production of this annual program.
  • Manage the promotion, scheduling, and planning of all group tours at Wilderstein.

Weddings:

  • Act as the representative of Wilderstein for promotion, planning and scheduling of all weddings at Wilderstein and as the on-site manager during these events.

Other:

  • Respond to security and other emergencies after hours as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with non-profit or public programming work.
  • Fundraising or general management experience.
  • Ease and interest in public-facing with the community, donors, and members.
  • Impeccable written, verbal and digital engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of quality and excellence.
  • Commitment to Wilderstein’s mission, attentiveness to detail, and common sense.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 30lbs. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly required to move around the park-like property.
