The project accountant will use the cost to cost method to determine the percentage of completion of a project, and therefore the amount of revenue that can be recognized. It is an underlying component of the percentage of completion method. This position will work with other departments (Estimating, Engineering, and Operations) to review and maintain the production cost estimate of each project/job on a monthly basis.

What you'll do

• 
  Manage DS Brown percent of complete revenue recognition process.
• Review and maintain production cost estimates for projects. This will require communicating and meetings with operations to ensure cost estimates are accurate monthly.
• Develop and distribute a weekly revenue forecast to upper management on a weekly basis. While providing analytical details of revenue changes drivers.
• Participate in the weekly revenue calls and update corporate bi-monthly on current revenue and backlog.
• Create and edit supplier data, verify supplier ACH information.
• Manage DS Brown CIP/fixed asset process.
• Update Oracle sales orders with change order updated/changes.
• Determines and installs cost accounting methods and procedures.
• Analyzes actual costs versus estimated costs and prepares reports of variances.
• Provides management with reports specifying percent complete by job.
• Works with cost accounting team on cost or general accounting activities.
• Required to document all changes to percentage of complete projections.
• Provide documentation and field questions from internal audit and E&Y during audits.

• In addition to the accountabilities listed above, individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.

What we need

Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience required to successfully complete the primary accountabilities is indicated below)

Degree: Bachelors

Major: Accounting or Finance

Experience: 3+ years

Organizational Competencies: Initiative

Knowledge of Percentage of completion (PoC) method of revenue recognition is desired.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required. Proficient with Microsoft Excel required.
