Overall Purpose
The Project Engineer will assist with the engineering, technical oversight and quality assurance for project deliverables for the Midwest Region of the United States. This position will also work with other regions to achieve corporate goals for quality, engineering support and business success. This position has primary responsibility for technical quality of our work product, conducting hydraulic analyses, writing reports for project deliverables, and writing and presenting industry leading technical papers and presentations at trade shows and in trade journals. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Region Engineer, Data Managers, Data Analysts and with Regional Project Management to create reports that answer customer’s most pressing needs for collection system management.
Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates and performs engineering and technical review of all projects in a specified region or regions.
  • Typical projects include Infiltration and Inflow Analyses, Capacity Analyses and Recommendations, SSO/CSO reporting, Sewer System Evaluation Surveys, and other reports, as well as proposals, plans, specifications, and research investigations.
  • Estimates engineering labor needs and schedules and assigns/performs work to meet completion date.
  • Provides quality assurance and technical oversight for the work of assigned data analysts as needed.
  • Works closely with sales managers and project managers to develop projects and recommend technical strategies for major or significant clients.
  • Provides technical support to sales for proposal generation, content, methodology and graphical presentation as needed.
  • Works closely with other engineering elements to develop and optimize data presentation, data analysis, and data reporting techniques and methods.
  • Responsible for assisting ADS to ensure Its reputation as the industry leader by writing and presenting approved technical papers at national and local trade shows and trade journals.
  • Performs work which involves conventional practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination requirements.
  • Assists in the specification of information products and accompanying software tools. This includes working closely with ADS Product Management in the development of new methods for delivering information electronically.
  • Provides local support for customers using ADS technology and software, including on-site training and presentations.
  • Works closely with ADS Support Center and Product Development to ensure customer issues and requests are logged and tracked.
  • Completes special projects as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
SKILLS - Strong technical writing and technical presentation skills are a must. Computer literacy and analytical skills are required. Strong familiarity with ADS software and hardware. Must be able to show examples of technical writing via reports, conference papers, and client/conference presentations completed in the last 5 years.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE – Bachelor of Science degree from an ECPD (Engineer’s Council for Professional Development) accredited curriculum, or equivalent, plus appropriate continuing education. Master’s Degree preferred. Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration is required, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in civil/wastewater engineering preferred.
