General Description:
The project engineer will be a team member of an engineering team executing development projects throughout the entire cycle, from initial concept through completion, and into series production. The project engineer will drive the ongoing improvement of current counterbalance (CB) lift trucks with design efforts to address production issues, as well as improve cost and customer satisfaction. The engineer will analyze problems and conduct research, design and develop components and systems for new and existing lift trucks and support the validation, documentation and release of the designs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research, design and develop components, equipment, and systems to satisfy technical, timeline, cost, quality, and customer requirements for development projects.
- Analyze problems and conduct research to develop options for solutions or improvements that serve as a basis for decision-making
- Continuous improvement of products via design enhancements, cost down measures and quality improvements that improve customer satisfaction.
- Address customer and supplier driven change requests and warranty issues relating to CB products
- Complete, research, design layouts, feasibility studies, cost analyses to justify design improvements
- Coordinate prototyping & testing of new & modified systems and vehicles.
- Facilitate regular design reviews with cross functional teams for any new designs
- Create and check 3D models, drawings, Bills of Materials, and engineering change packages
- Perform basic design analysis and tolerance studies to ensure design quality is achieved
- Ensure that designs meet customer, technical, legal and safety requirements,
- Collaborate with other departments including Sourcing, Production, Quality and Customer Support
- Regularly present status of design activities, and any open issues to Engineering managers
- Communicate effectively through all levels of the organization
Qualifications:
- Minimum three years of experience developing mechanical, structural and or hydraulic systems for mobile/heavy equipment
- Proficient at mechanical design using 3D-CAD (Unigraphics NX, preferred)
- Experience with manufacturing processes, design to cost (DTC) and value analysis (VA)
- Experience with bill of material management with ERP system (SAP, preferred)
- Experience with design of sheet metal parts and welded structures and machining practices
- Experience with design analysis and tolerance stack-ups
- Must be a good team player who is a pro-active self-starter with excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work well with multinational colleagues across a wide range of cultures
- Ability to work on multiple projects of small to moderate size or portions of major projects in parallel.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology required

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
