Frank H. Stowell & Sons, a Building First Nations company, is a full-service general contractor offering both traditional general contracting services and the design/build option. Our clients are just as likely to be institutions, businesses, or dwelling owners with projects ranging in size from large and complex to quite modest. More often than not they become repeat clients while our reputation in the architectural community is another source of project opportunities.

Summary

Work with the equipment vendors and their customers, from the time the owners ask for a proposal to include both design and construction to completion and closeout of the project. Many of the projects are relatively simple in that we are only working on rooms that are related to the proposed equipment. The complexity comes in the work required to site the new equipment. The work is often in hospitals that have strict rules for safety and infection control. Some of the projects are simple enough to work off the vendor site-specific drawings and the Scope of Work that we develop. Other projects require the services of an architectural and engineering firm. Almost every project is reviewed by our consulting structural engineer relative to weight and anchoring details. We perform linear accelerator renovations out of state, periodically. This requires some travel and for years has taken one day to travel, meet, and return home the same day. We either send our own Supt or work with a local General Contractor. We also have opportunities for larger renovation projects that might be related to the purchase of a new piece of equipment for a new or existing facility. 1. Must have familiarity with the vendors’ equipment, and how to find and read their technical information.

2. Must work with our Superintendent and subcontractors to follow owner’s rules and regulations.

3. The preparation of proposals includes cost estimating and the preparation of detailed proposals in the format that each vendor requires.

Skills

1. 5 to 7 years working as a project manager, will also consider someone with experience as a project engineer.

2. Much of one’s experience should show the ability to estimate and manage projects in medical facilities.

3. Experience with various modalities of imaging, vascular, and treatment equipment is necessary.

4. Demonstrable Communication skills, a positive attitude, reputation for honest dealing with both customers and subcontractors are essential.

5. Use of technology and construction software required. We use all MS Office products, MS Project, Procore, and several estimating programs.
