Position Summary:

The Project Manager will coordinate and oversee physical plant and renovation projects from conception through implementation and acceptance. This position leads, or is a major player in, project planning, budgeting, coordination, scheduling, developing phasing plans and directing contractors. This person will work with staff at all levels and lead project meeting to ensure project goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Under General Direction:

  • Works harmoniously with all levels of employees, requesters and end users to define projects, develop scope and assure the comprehensive project meets the expectations and necessities of the requesters.
  • Determine and define project scope and objectives including the performance of any field walkdowns necessary to define the scope
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Engaged in all facets of projects from conception, to design, budgeting, construction and commissioning.
  • Prepare and/or review project budgets and estimates based on scope of work and resource requirements
  • Track project costs in order to meet budget
  • Ability to coordinate and fulfill work within active patient care areas
  • Manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
  • Manage contracts with architects, contractors, vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
  • Coordinate utility shutdowns, as required to accommodate fulfillment of projects
  • Monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments as needed
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in an engineering or construction management field
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Understanding and implementing good construction practices
  • Project experience in architectural and mechanical construction.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, and other codes relevant to building and mechanical practices to assure a safe environment of care for all facility occupants
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Well organized
  • Ability to handle multiple project simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Healthcare environment
  • 7 years experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • ASHE Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) and/or Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC)
