University Orthopaedic Associates, a Division of OrthoNJ, is a leading orthopedic practice which provides a full spectrum of orthopedic care. Our board certified surgeons each subspecialty trained offer the best care in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement, traumatology, hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle surgery and surgery of the spine.
We have an exciting full-time opportunity for you to join our Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Excellence Team as a PT Assistant at our Wall Office with possible coverage in Morganville and Avenel when requested.
We are seeking a professional individual of high character, a great work ethic with flexibility in scheduling and a willingness to learn with a commitment to excellence.
Qualified Candidates:
- Graduate from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant curriculum
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
- Knowledge of EMR systems, a benefit, but not required
- Great interpersonal and communication skills to effectively explain treatment plans to patients
- A team oriented mindset
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to pay close attention to the patient’s progress
- Should be passionate about helping others and demonstrate empathy with patients
- Outpatient orthopaedic setting experience, a benefit, but not required
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Implements and executes on established Patient Education Sessions – learning the post-op recovery and protocol prior to total joint (knee and hip) replacement
- Assists with treating patients for coverage purposes as needed
- Interpret the results of the Body Composition Testing for clients who have this service completed (same day read of results)
- Communicates with patient, families, referring physicians and other members of the team
- Provides timely written documentation per facility and department requirements
- Reports any changes in patient status or needs to supervising therapist on a timely basis
- Supports and participates in department operations and development
