POSITION: Part Time Personal Property Data Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Assessor
WORK SCHEDULE: Hours Vary, M-F
SALARY: $18.25 hourly
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Answers telephone and greets office visitors, assists public with information and retrieves various records/reports,
providing copies upon request, including researching, and locating previous and current record cards and clarifying
information as needed. Can convey filing deadlines and explain basic procedures and intake process for: personal
property, appeals, exemptions & abatements.

Prepares and processes sales disclosures, including making calculations according to Indiana standards, entering data
in repositories, proofreading printouts, and completing, copying, filing and mailing notices. Processes and enters
corrections of errors and associated forms in computer, updates property record cards and forwards copies to
Taxpayers, the State of Indiana, and the County Auditor.

Analyzes sales data. Differentiates valid/invalid sales data. Verifies dates for trending commercial, industrial, residential,
and agricultural real estate.

Audits personal property forms, enters information in computer, and notifies individuals of errors.

Researches and discovers unlisted taxable property and corresponds with owners on listing property. Calculates
penalties and makes field reviews as needed.

Understands the role of each department involved in the taxation and billing of real and personal property; directs calls
and written correspondence to appropriate departments.

Assists in research in assessment related special projects as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED.
Working knowledge of standard office practices and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated
processes, tasks and operations.

Competency in common office software programs and ability to learn and integrate new software and processes into
work routine.

Ability to perform and interpret various (basic) mathematical functions related to both single property valuation and mass
appraisal.

Must be able to communicate clearly with taxpayers and co-workers, multi-task, and demonstrate time management
skills.
