Overview:
Receive and process calls from the public. Gather essential information from callers and dispatch the appropriate public safety personnel to the scene. Must be organized, adept at multi-tasking, level-headed, and trustworthy. Expected work hours will include Nights, Weekends, Holidays Day/Swing/Grave Shifts. Part-Time Hours up to 28 per week.
Responsibilities:
  • Uses a computer-aided dispatch system.
  • Dispatch maintenance and other university personnel to incidents that require immediate action to ensure the safety and security of the campus.
  • Closely monitor emergency and life-safety systems and alarms, such as fire detection, intrusion detection, access control, and security cameras.
  • Maintains contact with all units on assignment, maintain status and location of police.
  • Answers non-emergency calls for assistance.
  • Enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computer systems.
  • Receive requests for information regarding vehicle registration, driving records and warrants, and provides pertinent data.
  • Monitor several complex public safety radio frequencies.
  • Operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Advertised Salary: $14.00 per hour ADA:
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
