SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the responsibilities of the Punch Press Level 1 operator, the Punch Press Level 2 operator sets up and operates machines to produce a full range of clamps per product specifications with some supervision. Further, the Punch Press Level 2 operator applies experience and knowledge to assist in improvements of the machine cells. The Punch Press Level 2 operator will consistently maintain execution to targeted 2+ machine combination goals based on press and die capabilities. In addition, the Punch Press Level 2 operator will support Level 1 operators in troubleshooting and setup in order to add value to BAND-IT’s customers.
REPORTING TO: Production Supervisor
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proactively identifies safety opportunities and implements solutions to mitigate, reduce, or eliminate risk
  • Certified to perform Lock-Out Tag-Out Verification (LOTOV) operations
  • Ability to perform machine setups and make proper mechanical adjustments to optimize Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDC)
  • Ability to consistently achieve pitch at 85% or higher of 2+ machine combination production targets
  • Ability to achieve changeover rates at 75% or higher of changeover target
  • Achieves 90% accuracy or higher of work order issuances and can communicate when issuances/completions cannot be performed
  • Ability to perform Operator Preventative Maintenance on machines and provide detailed documentation of task performed
  • Identifies Statistical Process Control (SPC) signals and responds to triggers according to the standard method of recovery. Maintains the ability to re-establish parameters and mechanical setup to baseline of machine operations through standard work instructions
  • Participates and supports Lean Initiatives that drive improvements throughout the factory. Utilizes Lean Principles throughout their work day
  • Ability to identify, quantify and propose improvement countermeasures to items that are impacting SQDC
  • Assist in development of content in concurrence with engineering team members for standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other controlled written documents

  • Knowledge of the use of measuring instruments for inspection purposes, i.e. calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Mechanical background and/or aptitude

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 plus years of operating machines at level 1 requirements

Physical Demands:
  • Requires use of hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, tools or controls 90% of the time
  • 90-100% of the time is spent standing or walking
  • Approximately 30% of the time is spent bending
  • Ability to listen to the sound of a machine at all times to help identify operating problems
  • Lifting requirements range from less than 10 lbs. up to 200 lbs. Manual lifting could reach to company maximum of 35 lbs. Material handling equipment is available for heavy lifting
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving, mechanical parts approximately 90% of the time
  • Noise exposure is significant
Mental/Visual Demands:
  • Clear vision and the ability to adjust focus are required to monitor production operation and for safety
  • Requires constant alertness to machine operation
  • Peripheral vision is required to monitor production operations and for safety purposes

COMPENSATION
  • The estimated compensation for this position is $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
  • This position may be eligible for an $1000.00 sign on bonus
  • This position may be eligible for a business unit bonus annually
