About the role: The role of this position is to provide direct leadership to and support personnel in all functions related to the Quality and Food Safety Programs.
Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor
Business Unit: Quality Assurance
Location: Loudon, TN 150MTN
Reports to: Manager, Quality Assurance & Food Safety
Work Schedule: Generally, M-F 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, may vary based on business need.
Travel Time %: Generally, limited
Type of Position: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the Growing and Harvesting areas are following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
  • Ensure that Packing areas are compliant with FDA regulations for Current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR Part 117)
  • Ensure compliance to Corporate QA Food Safety programs and policies
  • Ensure compliance to National Organic Program certification requirements
  • Oversee Packing Sanitation team and Environmental Monitoring Program

Secondary Duties:

  • Ensure that all facility non-compliance is addressed through root cause and corrective action exercises.
  • Provide relevant training materials for facility GAP and GMP needs.
  • Other duties as requested by the manager.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of FSMA regulations and guidelines
  • FSMA PCQI Certified (within last 5 years), preferred
  • Knowledge of HACCP and Preventive Controls
  • Experience with National Organic Program compliance
  • Good communication (written and verbal) skills (English), critical thinking, and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate people
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to assist investigations of customer complaints
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY:
In addition to managing current direct reports; this position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management within that department.
Direct Reports: QA Technicians
  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting and training direct reports.
  • Is responsible for reviewing performance and administers corrective action.
  • Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.
  • Responsible for monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance.
  • Observes and practices safety and housekeeping procedures at all times.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of QA/QC experience in a food manufacturing facility
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Office 365 Programs
Desired:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Food Science, or other related field.
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in English/ Spanish
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • PCQI or HACCP certified
Work Environment: Varying temperatures throughout the facility; as low as 34 degrees in coolers, warmer temperatures in other parts of the facility. Floors are level concrete. Office environment is typically floors of either tile or carpet.
