Job overview

PST is currently seeking a Quality Control Inspector. This position will be based out of the PST facility located in Orangeburg, NY. This position reports to a QC Supervisor and will have direct responsibility for inspection of products, parts and materials in the following areas, Incoming, In-Process, Final and Nondestructive inspection (cross training will be provided). We are looking for a candidate willing to learn about inspection and quality systems with the ability to work in fast paced environments. Under limited supervision, performs visual, mechanical, functional dimensional or electrical inspection of a variety of products received for manufacturing.

Primary responsibilities

  • Conducts, physical, cosmetic, and dimensional inspections
  • Performs inspection tasks involving the use of a wide variety of test instruments and equipment to measure values and record functional operation of semi-finished and finished products
  • Performs nondestructive testing and final inspection of product
  • Determines acceptability, identifies and recommends disposition of defective items in accordance with established procedures
  • Use of various manual and automated pieces of equipment
  • Cleaning and packaging of finished goods
  • Etching products requiring the use acids
  • Perform administrative transactions using our ERP system (Oracle)
  • Working and cross training in all our inspection areas including a clean room environment
  • Interface with associates at many levels of the organization
  • Maintain quality records

Required qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Will consider experience in lieu of education
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Quick learner
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials
  • Computer literacy
  • Willing to learn and work in a fast-paced environment
  • This position may be required to work overtime, alternate shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed
  • Candidates must have the flexibility to work 2nd shift as production needs dictate

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Ability to use hand measuring tools, such as micrometers, calipers, angle gages
  • ASQ CQI a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS

In addition to being able to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities: Operate machinery and stand for extended periods; occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
