Petoskey Plastics is seeking a Quality Manager to be responsible for the design and direction of the Quality Management System (QMS) and conformance to QMS standards ensuring the quality and consistency of the company's products. The position is also responsible for complying with customer quality system requirements and actively keeps abreast of quality programs, systems, trends and tools that could be useful. This position provides work direction for Quality Assurance Technicians and Document Control Coordinator.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
- Automotive quality systems management - APQP, PPAP
- ISO quality system - ISO9000 and ISO13485
- Internal auditing
- Process and document writing
- Corrective and preventive actions
- Statistical and measurement system analysis
- Supervision
- Customer interaction
- FDA and/or medical - 21 CFR part 820 - Medical Device GMP
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in specialized area of study; experienced in quality management system design and use.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to implement quality tools: Pareto, SPC, control charts, FMEA, etc
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to present to customers
- Able to work in a team environment, and effectively manage associates
- Strong MS Office and ERP systems knowledge
- Commitment to quality work and continuous improvement activities
Work will primarily take place in an office or lab setting with periodic trips to manufacturing and production environment pulling product from powered equipment. Occasional overnight travel to customers as needed. Support 24/7 operations as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to senior management on status and effectiveness of QMS adherence
- Recommend, develop, implement and maintain Quality Management System policies and procedures
- Monitor, chart and analyze Quality measurables for the Plant internal scrap, first piece approvals, etc.
- Investigates and analyzes, trends, quality opportunities and recommends solutions and ensures corrections are made
- Develop and coordinate supplier quality system with purchasing
- Develops Correction and Preventive Action Plans
- Member of The New Product Development Team for Proposed and New Parts, acting as lead for all sample runs
- Act as ISO Management Rep (and for other QMS systems as required).
- Participate in daily production review meetings; hold daily communication meetings with QA Techs
- Assist Dept. Heads to monitor, control, evaluate and improve the quality of all products and processes within the company
- Take lead on communicating product on hold amounts, in pounds and other pertinent details
- Auditing; internal and external
- Manage quality lab and testing equipment
- Manage customer approval processes (PPAP, APQP, FDA, etc.).
- Investigate customer concerns and issue findings;
- Resolve customer issues expeditiously
- Lead cross functional corrective actions for continuous improvement
- Track and maintain customer concern database
- Represent voice of customer on internal issues/improvements
- Coordinate and manage customer concern responses from investigation to resolution on customer site as needed
- Supervise Quality Techs getting regular feedback and input from Production Shift Managers
- Assign coverage on shift for QA techs during absences; keep trained backups
- Train new hires in the requirements of the quality system; conduct follow up activities to ensure training effectiveness
- Attend monthly plant communication meetings and train new operators on quality
- Other activities as directed by management
