This position will be located at the Choctaw Ranch in Tom, OK.
Pay: $20.00/Hour
Job Purpose or Objective(s): Oversees small, less complex ranches and is responsible for the implementation of the diversified operational plan to include employee development, natural resource stewardship, animal husbandry, timely reporting, and valuable communication, with leadership, high integrity and focus for the benefit of the Choctaw Nation mission.
Primary Tasks:
Manage a revenue-producing livestock enterprise, enhancing native wildlife habitats and improving the overall cattle herd value.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the ranch including working with cattle, basic mechanics of ranch and farm equipment, fencing, road maintenance, windmills, and welding, etc.
Manage operational plans and budget; forecast performance and financial variance.
Develop and implement strategic plans to manage existing natural resources including soil fertility, annual/perennial forage supply, cattle husbandry, and wildlife.
Maintain, coordinate, support Beef Quality Assurance principles and training.
Manage plans and implementation of invasive control, pasture planting, etc. activities.
Oversee and manage the safety and security of all ranch personnel and assets.
Develop and implement a herd preventative health program, including weaned calf management.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM
High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic computer and software applications competency (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Understanding and appreciation for wildlife management, grazing systems and vegetation modification through mechanical, chemical, and prescribed fire principles
Strong work ethic, passion for agricultural systems and willingness to put forth exemplary effort while performing duties
Strong communication skills
Good record-keeping skills and business acumen
Experience with financial accountability, enterprise analysis and budget compliance
Two (2) years hands-on experience related to diversified cattle management (i.e. cow/calf; backgrounding and stocker enterprises)
TARGET
Ranch Management degree or certification
Advanced computer and software applications competency
Understanding and appreciation for wildlife management, grazing systems and vegetation modification through mechanical, chemical, and prescribed fire principles
Strong work ethic, passion for agricultural systems and willingness to put forth exemplary effort while performing duties
Strong communication skills
Good record-keeping skills and business acumen

experience managing diversified, multi-faceted, agricultural assets
Four (4) years hands-on experience related to diversified cattle management (i.e. cow/calf; backgrounding and stocker enterprises)
