AMHC has a new opportunity for a Full-Time Recovery Support Navigator in Machias. The Recovery Support Navigator, located at the Machias/Calais Court House, engages, educates, and supports people with substance use challenges who are court involved. This person also works with the court system, referral sources, and family members to support the individual in services. The chosen candidate will be expected to demonstrate the core values of AMHC by showing Integrity, Compassion, Excellence, Service, Collaboration, and Respect to co-workers, clients, and community members.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred.
- Experience in community-based behavioral health supports, substance use disorder services, and community re-entry programs is required
- Experience with justice-involved population preferred.
- Proficiency with motivational interviewing a plus is preferred.
- Experience with accessing local resources, and navigating health systems.
- Excellent communication, documentation, time management, and organizational skills are strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a reliable and appropriately insured vehicle is required
Responsibilities:
- Provides non-clinical, Compassionate services to engage, educate and support people with substance use disorders for individuals who are court involved.
- Assists with identifying, Collaborating, and accessing treatment and recovery resources in the community, including but not limited to prescribers for medications for opioid use disorder and psychiatric medications.
- Respectfully helps individuals develop and clarify personal goals and objectives around treatment and recovery from substance use disorder.
- Assist with health insurance enrollment and adjustments.
- Serves as a point of contact for care coordination and care transitions, in collaboration with the client, justice agencies, medical and behavioral health providers, and other agencies and supports as indicated focusing on the Services needed for our communities
- Provides overdose prevention education and access to naloxone distribution demonstrating AMHC's focus on Excellence and Service
- Connects potential eligible individuals to housing and transportation resources, as appropriate.

- This is a 40-hour per week position
