Entry level position performing responsible work involved with planning, coordinating, implementing, directing, and supervising leisure programs and activities in an assigned recreation area for adults and/or children.
Organizes, directs, coordinates, promotes, and supervises recreation programs and activities: games, sports, music, dancing, arts and crafts, nature activities, camping, informal group activities, tournaments, socials, classes, and exhibits, as well as special events, by developing and adapting programs through consultation with individuals and specific age groups to meet the needs of the County. Assists in administration of recreational center; i.e., answering telephone, registering participants, opening and closing facility, setting up and taking down equipment and facilities according to assignment and schedule. Supervises a group of participants, planning activities, and administering discipline in a camp situation or playground program or at a recreational facility. Gathers all necessary equipment or supplies for programs. Assists with light maintenance and custodial work required to support recreation programs. Performs related work as required.

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to bend, stoop, and squat frequently. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. One (1) year of experience in recreation or a related field.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Certification in CPR and First Aid must be received within six (6) months of employment.
