The City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation department is currently accepting applications for a part-time, year-round Pickleball Instructor to join our team!

The ideal candidate has a passion for providing quality programs and can communicate clearly with adults and children. This person is also flexible, adaptable and has strong problem-solving skills and can both work in a group, as well as independently.

Position Summary

Instructs Lenexa Parks and Recreation program participants in the rules and etiquette of pickleball. Prepares curriculum and presents it to participants as a positive first contact on behalf of the City.

Key Responsibilities

• Creates and plans group lesson curriculum, assists in developing materials and programs that can continually be used by the City.
• Instructs and delivers classes and private lessons to participants.
• Assists in the promotion of classes including writing materials for Town Talk or other marketing material as requested by supervisor.
• Assists with special events and festivals as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or G.E.D.; Two years’ instruction and customer service experience; Any certification required for an instructor to teach a specific class; CPR/AED certification.

Desired: General parks and recreation experience.

Environment and Physical Factors

This position encounters medium physical work, requiring the ability to teach classes, the ability to communicate with class participants and the ability to assist disabled individuals. Lifting and moving of supplies and materials related to recreation programs, activities and events will be encountered. Long hours of standing with limited breaks will be encountered. Other physical requirements include visual acuity to review information; hearing and speech ability to give and receive information to the public and co-workers.

Compensation and Benefits

Hiring range is from $15.00 - $22.50 per hour depending on qualifications and directly related experience.
