Job description
Our team in the Community Based Programs at Spaulding Academy & Family Services has an opening for a Recruitment & Licensing Specialist. The objective of this position is to recruit, train, license and retain compassionate and caring adults to provide safe and nurturing foster homes to children in need.
Requirements for this position are:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (or related clinical discipline) plus a minimum of two years’ experience working with children and/or families and demonstrated ability to serve and care for people in need.
- Experience in the licensing and certification for both the adult and children population is required.
- Trained, or available to be trained, in the SAFE Homestudy process.
- Effective communication skills, including interpersonal communication and group presentation.
- Have excellent and creative writing ability with emphasis on creation of persuasive copy.
- Have outstanding organization skills, assertiveness and openness to new ideas and a desire to grow and develop professionally.
- Good listening and group facilitation skills and flexibility in thinking and scheduling are also necessary
- Must have a driver’s license and good driving record, as well as no history of criminal conduct or reports of child abuse or neglect.
The responsibilities for this role will include:
- Recruit qualified foster parents on a continuous basis to meet the growing and changing client needs.
- Support and maintain weekly contact with each foster family and document contact in appropriate forums
- Complete all steps necessary in licensing foster homes in accordance with the State of New Hampshire Foster Family Licensing Rules (He-C6446) utilizing the SAFE Homestudy process.
- Ensure that foster parents participate in appropriate on-going trainings and complete all necessary paperwork for re-licensure.
- Create training tracks and assist foster families to meet all training requirements.
- Maintain foster family training records and administrative and clinical documentation as required by He-C 6335 Certification for Payment for Foster Care Programs.
- Communicate frequently with community groups, NH DHHS offices and state agencies about on-campus and community-based services and needs.
- Assist in raising community and public awareness on issues related to child welfare by promoting, organizing and/or helping to coordinate meetings, seminars, and/or special events.
- Actively participate and coordinate with Team members to make appropriate and successful matches of children and families within the program.
- Facilitate or find monthly support groups/activities for foster families.
- Participate in the Spaulding’s Resource On-call rotation.
Applicants must have:
- Strong leadership, self-initiation and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good oral and written language skills as well as good computer skills with proficiency in Word and Excel.
This position will report to the Director of Community Based Programs and is primarily for Monday – Friday but may vary depending on the needs of the children and their families that are being served.
