POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall sales, profit and service performance of multiple Optical Centers in a geographic region. Develops and executes strategies consistent with corporate direction to drive business. Manages and is accountable for the effective operation of the region’s optical centers, including staffing, training, policy and process adherence, compliance, optometric relations and patient experience. Builds a strong team with a succession plan for growth and development.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drive Business and Deliver Results

  • Works individually and cross functionally to develop and execute merchandise, operational, and customer service strategies to deliver planned sales, gross margin and EBITDA results
  • Executes quality store visits to validate patient/customer service standards are consistently delivered
  • Observes and reviews individual optician performance during visits and provides appropriate feedback and coaching
  • Establishes and monitors optical center operations guidelines (i.e. appointment monitoring, daily system balancing, government and state regulations)
  • Ensures operational exceptions are addressed and resolved
  • Facilitates on-going process improvement
  • Stays up-to-date on competition within the region

Leadership

  • Oversees onboarding for new Optical Center Managers and Optometrists; ensures training and onboarding is completed effectively for all teammates
  • Provides realistic parameters that allow teams to make decisions with accountability
  • Is accessible to the teams and the rest of the organization
  • Provides proactive communication to Optical Centers and corporate partners
  • Resolves customer concerns promptly and positively
  • Works closely with Human Resources to develop and implement solutions related to staffing, recruiting, performance management and employee relations
  • Oversees Optical Manager in Training program to develop bench strength within region
  • Regularly evaluates optometrist, manager and optician talent for current and future bench strength

Financial Acumen

  • Oversees financial operations of region by driving sales and managing expenses to plan
  • Identifies exceptions and puts appropriate action plan in place for resolution
  • Assists in accurate budget submission

Compliance

  • Ensures Optical Centers follow applicable Federal and State laws including; HIPAA, Fraud and Abuse, Federally and State funded vision plan regulations
  • Ensures all applicable Optometric and Optician laws are followed
  • Ensures Optical Centers adhere to all Company safety standards, policies and procedures


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in relevant business filed, or equivalent experience
  • Five years of multi-unit retail management experience
  • Optical Manager leadership experience preferred
  • Proven track record in leading, coaching, building successful teams, and developing leaders: directing and motivating a diverse teammate population
  • Ability to work collaborately in a large, corporate environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills to act decisively in identifying problems and developing solutions
  • Strong organization and time management skills to plan work, monitor progress and results and intervene to change direction if necessary
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to operate various office equipment (e.g., personal computer, telephone, facsimile machine, copier, etc)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all types of associates through written and two-way verbal communication
  • Able to read and write at a high school graduate level
  • Able to lift 10 to 20 pounds
  • Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines
  • Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
  • Must be an insured, licensed driver in current state of residence
