Job description
Serves as a nutrition resource and provides nutrition counseling to college students, faculty and staff. Assures compliance with standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
- Provide 1:1 counseling with college students, faculty, or staff regarding their nutritional concerns, questions, or needs. Serves as a nutrition resource for the entire campus.
- Collaborates with campus health services to promote health and wellness on campus via special events. (examples: nutrition presentations, informational booths).
- Promotes and monitors the Fit Choices 4 Life menu options and wellness program events. Develops and delivers nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, wellness challenges or events on various topics related to nutrition.
- Assists the Food Service Director with special dietary needs of students and any other requested diet or wellness projects as needed.
- Develops and assists in presentation of healthy cooking classes with the Executive Chef. Counsels athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training, competition, recovery from exercise, weight management, hydration, immunity, disordered eating, travel and supplementation as needed.
- Develops informational nutrition and wellness table tents and handouts as needed. Periodically survey students, faculty and staff to determine nutrition education needs of the campus.
- Serve as a resource on food safety and sanitation to the food service department and complete a Safety and Sanitation QA each semester.
- Stays abreast of current food, nutrition, and health and wellness issues/research.
