Title - Occupational Health Nurse
Work shift (days/times) – 1st shift; Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week (Flexible)
Work Location - Primarily Westborough, MA (However, may ask to visit Marlborough or Shrewsbury, MA)
What you’ll do
The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for supporting the health and medical needs of the Client’s eastern US associates working at US manufacturing and office sites, or working remotely throughout the country. The Occupational Health Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Health Program Manager and, where required, the Occupational Health Nurse’s medical supervisor. This individual will also function in a team environment to ensure compliance and identify, prevent and resolve potential issues and to mitigate liabilities associated with associate occupational health programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
Assist representatives in completing/updating Risk Assessments to determine requirements for medical surveillance:
- Maintains and applies current knowledge of applicable federal, state/province & local regulations and related requirements for routine medical surveillance exams.
- Participates in routine Risk Assessments scheduled/coordinated by to identify jobs/roles/employees subject to routine medical surveillance exams.
Pre-employment/Post-offer medical evaluations and work recommendations:
- Maintains and applies current knowledge of jobs requiring medical evaluations (e.g., audiometry, respirometry) and services (e.g., vaccination) in compliance with applicable federal, state/province & local regulations.
- Schedules and delivers applicable exams for identified employees as coordinated by the client.
- Provides fitness-for-duty/occupation recommendations as needed for new employees.
Periodic Medical Surveillance exams; Fitness-for-Duty exams and work recommendation:
- Maintains and applies current knowledge of client jobs requiring medical evaluations (e.g., audiometry, respirometry) and services (e.g., vaccination) in compliance with applicable federal, state/province & local regulations.
- Schedules and delivers (where on-site) applicable exams for identified employees as coordinated by the Client.
- Provides fitness-for-duty/occupation recommendations as required for existing/returning/retiring/terminated employees.
- Notifies Client when an employee is known to need a Fitness for Duty exam based on medical provider opinion or federal, state/province and/or local regulation.
- Performs appropriate Fitness for Duty/Functional Capacity exams, and provides recommendations as needed for occupation required by employees.
- Provides restricted work recommendations as needed or required by existing/ returning employees
Worksite ergonomic assessment and coaching:
- Provides ergonomic assessment, analyses & recommendations for specific job assignments as requested by the Client.
- Provides assessment and coaching for individual employees/groups on proper body mechanics and preventive exercises.
Management of acute and chronic work-related medical conditions:
- Provides accessible, high-quality occupational medical care for work-related illness and injury cases.
- Communicates promptly with appropriate Client representatives to ensure timely return-to-work, compliant with applicable federal, state/province and/or local privacy regulations.
- Provides fitness-for-duty recommendations as needed for occupations required by existing/returning employees.
Travel medicine services for business travel:
- Supports employees whose duties require international travel with appropriate counseling on healthy practices/disease prevention and administers appropriate vaccinations when needed.
Maintenance of medical records:
- Maintains medical records of Services provided for Client employees, including retention, archiving, and requested copy distribution following applicable federal, state/province and/or local regulations.
- Enables transfer of medical records to a successor occupational health provider in the event of/upon termination of this Agreement.
- Processing of health records as authorised healthcare professionals for the purposes of occupational medicine and the protection, restoration and maintenance of health
- The Supplier will act as a Data Controller and process the data for the lawful reason of delivering occupational health services under GDPR Article 9(2)(h)
- Client will act as a data controller and process data under GDPR Article 6(1)(b)
Other**
- Assists with policy review and creation regarding medical-related services (e.g., delivery of medical surveillance under defined circumstances).
- Participate in accident investigation and assisting in defining corrective/preventing action
- Support case management for non-work-related illness/injury as it relates to planning/coordinating return-to-work and fitness-for-duty.
- Collaborate with Client for Health Surveillance Exam reviews
- Assist with COVID case investigation and tracking as requested (e.g., contact tracking)
Who you are
- Registered nurse in Massachusetts required.
- Experience with electronic medical records, acute musculoskeletal injury management and medical/occupational case management preferred.
- Specialty training and/or certification (e.g., CAOHN, CAOHC) preferred.
