Kalamazoo Endoscopy Center (KEC) a GI Ambulatory Surgical Center in Portage, MI, has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Registered Nurse to join the team!

What you will be working on:

The duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse include, but are not limited to:

Admitting Role

• Identifies self to patient and family and assures the correct identity of patient and procedure to be performed.
• Checks patient’s vital signs and does pre-procedure assessment.
• Offers emotional support to patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge of procedures.
• Documents and communicates any specific patient concerns.

Procedure Room Role

• Injections of saline or India ink in procedure
• During a flex sigmoidoscopy procedure, monitor vitals

Recovery Role

• Educates patients on surgical procedures and post op care prior to discharge.
• Implements the plan of care by maintaining constant and vigilant patient care by ensuring patient safety and needs.
• Reassess patients as needed and appropriately revise the plan of care.
• Correctly administer prescribed treatment.
• Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
• Keep accurate documentation of patient's treatment, activity and condition, as well as patient's response to medical and nursing interventions.
• Act rapidly and effectively during an emergency situation, managing self, patients, families and other employees.
• Use clinical judgment in delegating assignments to medical assistants in providing patient care, and ensuring that assignments are completed.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.

What you’ll know:

• A successful applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• GI/Endoscopy experience preferred but not required, preferably in an ASC or GI Suite
• Current MI RN license required
• Knowledge of EMR preferred and medical terminology (will train on EMR)
• BCLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Pre-employment physical with additional testing to meet state and OSHA guidelines
• Must be a team-player with excellent multi-tasking and interpersonal skills
• Compassion for patient needs and a high degree of professionalism

Mandatory participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Vaccination program is required for all Center Health Care Personnel (HCP).
