What you will be working on:
The duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse include, but are not limited to:
Admitting Role
- Identifies self to patient and family and assures the correct identity of patient and procedure to be performed.
- Checks patient’s vital signs and does pre-procedure assessment.
- Able to select correct IV catheter and insert IV catheter within two attempts.
- Offers emotional support to patients.
- Demonstrates knowledge of procedures.
- Documents and communicates any specific patient concerns.
Procedure Room Role
- Assures the correct identity of the patient and procedure to be performed.
- Correct documentation of procedure and medications.
- Knowledge of medications and the ability to administer through various routes.
- Able to utilize all equipment to monitor patient.
- Offers emotional support to patient during the procedure.
- Appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
- Keeps physicians aware of patient’s condition during procedures.
- Accurately documents specimens.
- Knows emergency protocol.
- If not previously completed, can insert IV catheter with no more than 2 sticks.
- Chooses appropriate site for I.V. insertion.
- Accurately and completely documents I.V. insertion information.
Recovery Role
- Educates patients on surgical procedures and post op care prior to discharge.
- Implements the plan of care by maintaining constant and vigilant patient care by ensuring patient safety and needs.
- Reassess patients as needed and appropriately revise the plan of care.
- Correctly administer prescribed treatment.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Keep accurate documentation of patient's treatment, activity and condition, as well as patient's response to medical and nursing interventions.
- Act rapidly and effectively during an emergency situation, managing self, patients, families and other employees.
- Use clinical judgment in delegating assignments to medical assistants in providing patient care, and ensuring that assignments are completed.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.
What you’ll know:
- A successful applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- GI experience preferred, preferably in an ASC or GI Suite
- Current NY RN license
- Knowledge of EMR and medical terminology.
- ACLS certified within 6 months of hire
- If BCLS, willing to become ACLS certified within center specified time period.
- Pre-employment physical with additional testing to meet state and OSHA guidelines
- Must be a team-player with excellent multi-tasking and interpersonal skills
- Compassion for patient needs and a high degree of professionalism

The Endoscopy Center of New York carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum payrate for the position is $43.00 hourly and the maximum hourly for the position is $50.00. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
